2007/02/13Photo Counter & Volume Slider Added to the PhoTune Player

Two very nice additions to both the large and small versions of the player have been implemented.

Now, if your audio track lasts longer than your photos do, your friend won't watch the last photo of your PhoTune with a puzzled look on his/her face wondering when it is going to change.

No... the player has not been squashed. This image was created with a bit of PhotoShop magic so that you could see both the counter and volume controls in a limited space.

2007/02/04Add A Music Link Guided Tour is now available

Want to use your favorite song in your next PhoTune? Watch this short narrated video guide to find out how easy it is to add a new song to the growing PhoTune Music Library.

You can access the narrated video guide by pressing the Guided Tours button on the left side of this page.

Find a link to an MP3 song sample on any artist's website, copy it, then paste it into our very simple music submission form. All you need to do is select the music genre and type in the band's name. Simple is beautiful.

2007/02/03PhoTune Guided Tour is now available

Finally, I found time to create a detailed, narrated video guide demonstrating how easy it is to create a PhoTune music slideshow. The guide has been been broken into 11 sections so that it is extremely easy to get right to the information you want to access.

You can access the narrated video guide by pressing the Guided Tours button on the left side of this page.

I step you through signing up for a free account, logging into your account, uploading photos, selecting and sorting photos, adding music to the PhoTune, viewing the finished PhoTune, sending a link to your PhoTune via an email message or embedding it directly into a web/blog page, and finally editing the PhoTune by adding or subtracting photos, changing the music and/or adjusting the border color of your PhoTune.

2006/12/31PhoTune Logo Created

I finally got around to creating a logo that is identifiable. Is that a real word? I decided to go with a round logo that featured two shapes coming together to form one object. This symbolizes the fact that a PhoTune is a single entity comprised of two elements... Photos and Music.

I hope you like it... at least my wife doesn't complain about this one. I wish I would have saved the sketch I made of this logo for her while we were dining out at our favorite pizza place... Tomaso's of Mequon, WI. She came up with the site's slogan that evening... "Where Photo and Music Become One".

2006/12/17Thumbnail Previews have been added to the Cue Point Creator

This major overhaul was an absolute necessity for the already amazing PhoTune Cue Point Creator. I also added a photo counter beneath the thumbnail images.

Creating online guides or product reviews is a breeze now that you can see exactly which photo is visible at all times during the audio track. Click HERE to view the first ever PhoTune product review. I am raving about my new Sealy Posturepedic office chair. Updating the PhoTune website has never been more comfortable. ; )

2006/11/26Website Layout Created

I finished laying out the website. It was functional at this point, but in desperate need of an identity.

Here is the original logo that I came up with. I was playing with the thought that the logo should convey the fact that the site integrates both photos and music.

I still don't think the logo is all that bad... but memorable, it is not. My wife absolutely hated this logo, thus I had to figure out a way of getting it on the site somehow... some way. ; )

2006/11/25PhoTune Cue Point Creator

I was able to convert my Web Streamz Player from the MyStreamz.com site into a functioning cue point insertion tool.

This tool is the last piece of the PhoTune puzzle. This tool allows us to add the points in the audio track where we want each photo to change.

Let the music slideshow revolution begin!

2006/11/20PhoTune Player Success

Here is the very first version of the PhoTune player that was capable of preloading and displaying a set of external jpeg images that automatically change according to a dynamically created array of cuepoints linked to an mp3 audio file that is streaming from someone else's server. Alright.. I realize this sounds like a simple set of tasks, but it is not.

Isn't she a beauty? Ok... maybe she wasn't ready for prime time yet.

2006/10/10PhoTune.com is Born

Here is the original concept that I wrote out as I was eating my lunch at Erbert & Gerbert's sub shop on October 10, 2006. I folded this page up and tucked it in my jacket pocket. I continued to work on the remainder of the pseudo-code for this site over the next couple weeks during my lunch hour.

I originally wanted the website to be called MyPhotoz.com. This would have gone along with the naming scheme of my other site... MyStreamz.com. Thankfully, Towner Jones Photography had already registered that name. After a couple weeks of tossing around ideas with my wife, I managed to secure a much better URL for this site... PhoTune.com.

If you view the larger scan of these notes, you will see that these concepts were greatly improved upon as the site continued to evolve. However, it is fun looking back at what my original concept was.
